Norns of the Sky

Now if you'll just turn your head skywards, you'll see some of the fantastic flying creatures that inhabit these parts...

 

Here we have a male Norny Owl. He usually comes out at dusk, on the lookout for rodents, so we're lucky to catch him at this time of day.

 

Ah, now this is a young Hawk Norn. You can see that her wings aren't fully grown yet, so she won't be leaving the nest for a while. She still relies on her parents for food, yet in the short space of a year she may well be a parent herself.

 

This is a Parrot Norn, from deep in the tropical rainforests. Its feathers are brightly coloured, to attract mates and confuse dim-witted predators. It perches on one leg because it uses the other to scratch behind its ears.
