The History, The Story.

Over 350 magazine articles have written over the past 30 years for Model Boats, Airfix Magazine, Scale Models, Model Shipwright and Interavia. New material is appearing in Marine Modelling International.
My sources of information have built up over a long period. Always interested in the Royal Navy and model making, I joined the Sea Scouts, Sea Cadets and after starting work as a junior draughtsman, and attending technical college, I joined the London Division of the RNVR.
I was called up for National service in 1956 and after training I was selected for rapid promotion in the engine room branch. I signed on for 9 years service serving on HMSs Sluys, Theseus, Albion, Scott and Bulwark. I left in 1965 after four years as a Petty Officer.
I then joined the Metropolitan Police and served in North London. As a hobby, and a change from the job, it was suggested, by Alan Raven that I start producing detailed drawings of warships. This interest developed to drawing naval Weapons. This led on to writing magazine articles for various magazines, on to illustrating books and then to writing my own, usually with a co-author.
Over these years my research sources have enlarged, making more and more contacts and purchasing shipbuilders and other authentic drawings from various sources. A few are mentioned below.

Some More Links for Modellers and Warship Modellers.

We are pleased to announce the initial releases in this new range of kits and detail sets. The theme of the range will be principally [though not totally] vessels from WWII, as operated by Britain and her allies. Obviously, given the main chosen scale of 1/72nd, the emphasis will be on smaller subjects
They will allow the builder to produce models of museum standard. The fittings on these sets and kits are where the accent on detail will be particularly noticeable. Construction from the deck [if applicable] upwards, is entirely from photo-etched brass and cast metal, using slot & tab construction methods. These kits and sets all come with colour-coded assembly instructions and most include some photographic references.
